Saklikent

saklikent antalya turkeyOverheating? Then this dramatic, natural canyon is well worth a visit. located approximately 60km from Kas, on the Kas-Fethiye road (signposted on the right past Patara turn, approx 15km.) The canyon is 18km long, of which around 6km is hike able. You'll be walking in the cool mountain water (between ankle and knee height in the summer months.) And of course there are plenty of opportunities to swim.

Also not to be missed, are the great selection of waterside restaurants, were you can eat fish, caught and cooked in front of your eyes.

Patara

There is something for everyone here. 41km from Kas.(7km of the main road from a junction 11km west of Kalkan) Steeped in history from at least the 6th century BC, Patara has a treasure trove of ancient ruins. The most dramatic being the amphitheater, which held around 10,000 people, and was constructed around the 2nd century BC.

If history is not your 'cup of tea' the beach will certainly impress.18km long, and between 280-1500m wide, this is Turkeys longest sandy beach. This is also the breeding ground for the Caretta-Caretta sea turtle.

This whole area is protected, with admission to the area approximately £5 Sterling per person.

Set sail with Selo (but Selo doesn't have a sail!)

boat trips from kasBut he does have a boat, and a lovely laid back way about him. What better way to see the dramatic and beautiful coastline around Kas than with Selo at the helm. Glimpse the ancient rock tombs carved into the steep cliffs, swim in the clear blue Mediterranean waters and sunbath on deck as the boat makes its way at a leisurely unhurried pace. Just ask for Selo at the quay side. He'll probably be on his boat.

Life's a beach!
